Many migrants who stayed in their place of work need to be redeployed. People working in the hospitality business have no jobs while those who stayed back need to be re-skilled and redeployed.

SAFAL assisted migrants to return home. Now it’s time to assist the people who stayed back or those who lost their livelihoods!

By Dec 2020 SAFAL plan to support 100 micro-entrepreneurs and 5000 youth in search of employment!

THE PROBLEM

The lockdown due to COVID 19 has destroyed livelihoods for everyone.

1. Most entrepreneur/micro-entrepreneurs/ self-employed have no funds to restart their business

2. Many employed have lost jobs. Some traditionally booming sectors like hospitality face uncertainties

3. Some migrant workers who stayed back are lost and feeling helpless.

Today there is anxiety everywhere:

  • How can I restart and generate a sustainable income?
  • How do I build resilience in my life? How can I stay healthy?
  • What about my family’s future; esp., survival, healthcare and children’s education?

OUR THEORY OF CHANGE

1. When a micro-entrepreneur gets fund and a push - It goes as working capital and generates income for him/her to sustain.

2. At the macro level, these developments will subsequently boost overall consumption and demand leading to job creation and economic recovery.

3. Economic health will boost the physical, mental, academic, and overall health of the community.

4. The Migrant workers who stayed back are mostly semi-skilled workers and their entire paradigm has changed. They are looking at us for direction and assistance

ACTION PLANS

Our planned Actions:

1. Training of all beneficiaries on COVID19 health & safety, financial inclusion & tips to build resilience

2. Skilling and Placement services to 5,000 people wanting to go into employment.

3. Financial assistance of Rs. 5000/- head and hand holding support to about 100 micro-entrepreneurs & self-employed.

4. Linking the beneficiaries with government schemes and benefits and improving access and utilisation.

Target Group: Daily wage earners, micro-entrepreneurs/self-employed, esp. women; street vendors/hawkers, and Migrants workers.

Geographic Location: South Bangalore. Singasandra, Sarjapur Road and Electronic city area

By September 2020 we should demonstrate that this is an efficient model that works.
The result should be available to be replicated by other interested groups at the national level.
